The Flower Girl
A Mixed Media Series by Kinna LeBlanc
The expansion of the 2024 series of mixed-media works, "The Flower Girl," by Kinna LeBlanc demonstrates artistic growth and shows a body of work that explores feminism, family history, trauma, resilience, and inner child healing creating a narrative of personal transformation. In a collection of mixed-media paintings and assemblages that include printed images, digital portraiture, restored photographs, tape-transfer, acrylic paints, oil pastels, color pencils and markers; depicting the artist own likeness and honoring her late parents, Eric and Clara- Junie LeBlanc. The series emphasizes the traces of the artists past: the meanings that life and legacy has had on her development and how resilience and transformation manifest itself after trauma. “The Flower Girl" series provides the answers to the personal questions the artist has had after experiencing loss and goes deeper into elements of her divine self.

The Story
Through the critical examination of family ancestry and inner child healing, this body of work honors culture, identity, resilience, and transformation. Kinna LeBlanc explores the art of mixed media assemblage by using collage, digital portraiture, and multimedia illustration to communicate the narrative: images of herself as a child, her late parents in their youth, her personal journeys, and her definitions of black womanhood are all incorporated in this first series installment, to a larger collection.
